If you’re looking to be delighted by the reveal of life’s simple pleasures - fresh air, breathtaking nature, and delicious farm-to-table food then this is the tour for you.

This bike tour offers combines the city and the country, and because it’s Canada, a little bit of wilderness since it’s that close to town. This bike tour links together the diverse trail systems that start in the heart of Victoria’s Old town. On our way out of the City of Victoria, we take the newly completed Johnson Street bridge, a bridge that anchors the Sannich Peninsula to Victoria’s downtown that connects to the “The Great Trail” - the world’s longest bike pathway stretching not only across the island but the entire country of Canada (that’s 22,000km of trail, but don’t worry - you’ll only be doing a teeny tiny part of that - you didn’t sign up to do the whole thing!).

When the downtown fades away, we’ll traverse inland on Vancouver Island’s extensive rail to trail system (including the Galloping Goose, the Colquitz River trail, the Panama Flats Trail, & the Lochside Trail), and on this loop tour, we bike back to the city’s picturesque inner Harbour to conclude.

The scenery we witness on this ride is the essence of what creates the island life and we will tap right into the heart of it!

In a small group (a maximum of 8 people), we ride through and alongside a variety of landscapes, water routes that carry the wild pacific salmon, protected wetlands that are home to native birds, and take in the views of the Olympic Mountains. This tour has the added benefit of you discovering “Charlotte and the Quail,” a rustic and gourmet secret foodie haunt tucked into the garden education epicentre, the Horticultural Centre of the Pacific (HCP).

You’ll arrive wondering if you’ve have been transported to another world. And I would say, yes, you have indeed. We break for lunch here to nourish ourselves with a thoughtfully created seasonal meal designed just for us. It’s a garden wonderland too with an opportunity to take in the magical botanical garden views.

With a happy belly we will hop back on our bikes venturing onto the locally renowned Lochside trail featuring tree lined paths, country lanes, views of Mount Douglas and Blenkinsop Valley farmland and ride across the history Selkirk Trestle Bridge back to the downtown core.

As a reward for the most amazing day, depending on the mood and the weather we’ll treat you to one of Victoria’s secret ice cream shops. And you can go back for seconds later if you like because like everything else about this tour, you’ll get to see the secrets that Victoria tends to keep for herself.

- This trail is rated moderate because it requires previous experience on a bike on different types of terrain. Although most of the path is paved, there are some gravel portions and inclines that those completely new to cycling will find difficult. If this tour interests, you but it sounds a little bit too hard, the Discovery Tour is the perfect alternative. Click here for that.
